Health & Wellbeing

At Jolly Tots we take pride in our home cooked, healthy, balanced and nutritious meals and snacks on offer throughout the day. Wherever possible, ingredients are fresh and locally sourced. In addition to the specific daily menus, bread, yoghurts and fruits are available. A drink of milk, water or diluted pure fruit juice is also offered. We keep a record of what your child has eaten to enable us to report back to you.

We help the children to understand the importance of making healthy choices in relation to food by incorporating a ‘children’s choice’ menu each week.

Our detailed  recipe file is available to look at upon request. Please feel free to discuss any special dietary requirements.

A young child does not distinguish between work and play. A child building a tower of bricks does not realise that he/she is learning about shape, balance, stability, gravity and structure. Play, if it is channelled carefully, can enable a child to learn during those years of most rapid intellectual growth, coupled with an intense curiosity about themselves, their world and their relationships.

The purpose of play is to enable the child to grow, develop and extend his/her range of skills, knowledge and abilities, through carefully chosen and devised activities that the child finds enjoyable, stimulating and challenging.

During their time within our care the physical, mental, emotional and social needs of the child are provided for.

Outdoor activities contribute to children's health, their physical development and their knowledge of the world around them. The children are encouraged to participate in outdoor child-chosen and adult-led activities, as well as those provided in the indoor playrooms.

We believe that children and adults flourish best in an ordered environment in which everyone knows what is expected of them and children are free to develop their play and learning without fear of being hurt or hindered by anyone else. We aim to work towards a situation in which children can develop self-discipline and self-esteem in an atmosphere of mutual respect and encouragement.

Whatever your child's needs or culture, he/she will always be welcome at Jolly Tots. Every child is unique and of course every child is special. The staff listen and talk to the children in a positive way and respect them as individuals. If children are distressed, the staff listen, comfort and take action when necessary.
